Benefits of Dryland Training

Hockey development does not only happen on the ice.  A major component for reaching the next level in hockey is the training and development achieved off the ice during dryland training sessions.  Players of all ages can benefit from the various exercises, drills and skills learned off the ice by a qualified hockey strength and conditioning coach.  These benefits include:

  • Improve performance by developing muscular strength, power and endurance

  • Re-balance the body muscles so to maximize hockey performance and prevent injuries

  • Improve self confidence on the ice during practices and games

  • Increases overall health and wellness

  • Develop faster acceleration and deceleration with skating

  • Use the tremendous strength to improve explosive speed and quickness on the ice

  • Build a strong core that allows for optimal power transfer during skating and rotational force with shooting

  • Strengthen the cardiovascular system to perform at a high capacity from the first period to the third period and beyond

  • A flexible body that produces a full range of motion during skating and resists injury

At DP Hockey we focus on developing the athlete from the inside out.  Starting out with our unique hockey specific and general body fitness assessment we start from scratch and make better hockey players.  No matter what age, we teach, correct, train and encourage our athletes to be the best players possible.  This is the benefit of professional, educated and practical hockey dryland training.  See our training services section for more details.
